City Year London needs more support from the “people upstairs” in order for this opportunity to be accessible for the variety of young people we are looking for here. City Year is meant to be challenging, or it wouldn’t be City Year, but there needs to be support like Americorps in the US in order for the programme to be sustainable and effective in the UK.

when I went to let them into the office tonight, for our first Youth Advisory Board meeting (whoop whoop!) and at first I figured it was an inside joke or something, but soon realised I was in business casual dress and they had NEVER seen me out of the khakis and red coat. great reminder of what a ridiculous job i have. i’m glad that now they know that i am, in fact, human.

I jumped on my big red bus (#8, whoop whoop!) around 7:45 to get to PT this past Friday morning and as I got to the back of the bus I heard “Hi!” and realised that the little girl across from me was waving enthusiastically with a huge smile on her face. I smiled back and said hello as I took a seat. ”See mom!” she exclaimed as she gestured to the upper part of her jacket....
